How to Quit Smoking Cigarettes?

But remember that these cravings won’t last long as soon as you try to avoid it. It is better to prepare a quit smoking plan in advance so that you are prepared when the smoking triggers and cravings arrive. Here are the four steps to help you start on quitting smoking:

  1. Distract yourself.
    Do the laundry, clean your room, organize your things, read a book. It doesn’t matter what things you do as long as your thoughts about smoking stops.

  2. Remember the reasons why you want to quit smoking.
    Remind yourself the health benefits (link effects of smoking on the body), improvement of your physical appearance, higher self-esteem, and the money you save from avoiding buying cigarettes.

  3. Avoid situations that remind you of smoking.
    No matter where you are, if the scenery or situation reminds you of smoking, avoid it by stepping away.

  4. Give yourself a treat.
    What better way to have the motivation to quit smoking than to reward yourself? Every time you avoid smoking triggers and cravings, buy yourself a treat!
